Los Angeles is such a unique city! When I first got to visit the city, I was so exited to finally see the city with my own eyes. It´s one of the most known and talked cities in the US; I saw so much about the city in different American movies and I heard so much about the dream of Hollywood. However, I ask myself, who much of this is real? What is Los Angeles really about? After a few visits – I have to admit: I loved Los Angeles since the very beginning. The first thing I saw outside the airport were palm trees – vacation feeing pure (even I was working!). Since then, it got better and better. As I was wandering around the city, standing in front of the Hollywood signs or spend a relaxing day at the Santa Monica Pier – I was always so happy. I think, because most of the time I just felt like I was living in a movie and it never got boring – Los Angeles always fascinated me so much. So here are my all-time favorites you shouldn´t miss and I hope you are as happy as I was when you visit the city of stars!
Los Angeles ist und bleibt eine so einzigartige Stadt. Als ich das erste Mal in diese Stadt reisen durfte, war ich so gespannt, Los Angeles endlich mit meinen eigenen Augen zu sehen. Sie ist eine der bekanntesten Städte der USA und ich habe so viel bereits in amerikanischen Filmen von ihr gesehen und so viel vom Traum aus Hollywood gehört, dass ich mich aber doch fragte: Kann das alles wahr sein? Und wie ist LA tatsächlich? Was steckt hinter all dem? Schon bei meinem ersten Besuch habe ich viele Antworten erhalten und muss gestehen: Ich habe mich in diese Stadt von Beginn an verliebt. Allein aus dem Flughafen zu treten und zu aller erst Palmen zu Gesicht zu bekommen, wer wäre nicht sofort in Urlaubsstimmung? Egal ob ich planlos durch die Stadt bummelte, vor den Hollywood Signs stand oder in Santa Monica die kalifornische Sonne genoss – ich war stets so glücklich in dieser Stadt. Und gerade, weil ich mir in Los Angeles wie in einem Film vorkomme und es nie langweilig wird, hat mich diese Stadt jedes Mal aufs Neue begeistert. Ich hoffe, dass ich Euch mit meinen Los Angeles Tipps genau so für diese Stadt begeistern kann und ihr genau so glücklich seid, wenn ihr die City of Stars besucht.
Melrose Avenue
This road got popular by its "" colored walls, which are at the same time so photogenic. Furthermore, you will find so many cool Cafes, Restaurants and Shops in this district.
Diese Straße wurde durch ihre unzähligen bunten Wände berühmt, die gleichzeitig so fotogen sind. Unter anderem findet man hier aber auch sehr viel schöne und hippe Cafes, Restaurants und Shops.
Hollywood Sign
If you visit Los Angles, you cannot not see them: The famous Hollywood signs. You might have the option to walk within two hours up the hill to stand right behind the signs and get an amazing view of the city. Instead of hiking, we drove up the Mullholland Highway to a less known viewpoint to get a perfect view on the signs. On the way we got along some stunning villas where celebrities like Bruce Willis, Demi Moore and Madonna live. The exact adresse for the view point is 6330 Mullholland Highway oder 3100 Canyon Lake Drive. Perfect for a typical Hollywood Picture.
Wenn man Los Angeles besucht sieht man sie früher oder später allemal. Aber es gehört auch einfach dazu, die berühmten Hollywood- Signs von nahem zu sehen. Es bietet sich die Möglichkeit innerhalb zwei Stunden bis oberhalb der Signs zu wandern. Man steht direkt hinter den abgezäunten Buchstaben und überblickt die Stadt.
Die zweite Möglichkeit wäre ein Trip zu einem schönen Aussichtshügel, der einen direkten Blick auf die Hollywoods Signs verspricht. Man fährt dafür die Mullholland Highway entlang und kommt an Millionenschweren Villen vorbei, in denen unter anderem Bruce Willis, Demi Moore und Madonna wohnen. Die genaue Adresse lautet 6330 Mullholland Highway oder 3100 Canyon Lake Drive. Es ist nicht der typische Aussichtspunkt und noch nicht all zu bekannt. Aber er bietet einen perfekten Ausblick. Perfekt für ein typisches Hollywood Bild.
Griffith Observatory
The Griffith Observatory offered some of the best views I´ve had of Los Angeles. Views of Downtown LA, Hollywood, the Hollywood Sign and the rest of the surrounding area.
What I did and what I can HIGHLY recommend is to visit the observatory before sunset and to stay for a while. I got to see the skyline of LA by day, colorful at sunset time and afterwards full of lights. The phrase “City of Stars” got another meaning when I saw all these amazing lights – and Los Angeles was sparkling full of stars. Inside the Griffith Observatory are several galleries offering information about the galaxy, our solar system and all our planets, astronomy and much more! For 7 Dollars you can visit a show going on in the planetarium - which I’ve heard from is really worth it.

Das Griffith Observatorium bleibt mir besonders in Erinnerung, da ich hier die schönsten Aussichten von Los Angeles erlebt habe. Der Blick reicht von den Hollywood Signs, über Hollywood, Downtown LA und die Umgebung bis nach Santa Monica. Was ich absolut empfehlen kann ist das Observatorium vor Sonnenuntergang zu besuchen um die Stadt einmal bei Tag, in bunte Lichter getaucht während dem Sonnenuntergang und bei Nacht erleben zu dürfen. Schon bei Tag wirkt LA unendlich groß, aber bei Nacht, wird einem die Bedeutung von 'City of Stars' noch einmal anders deutlich. Ein Lichtermeer überdeckt die Stadt und alles funkelt und glitzert.
Im Observatorium selbst befindet sich viele verschiedene Ausstellungen über die Galaxy, unsere Planenten, die Sterne, Astronomie und vielem mehr! Für 7 Dollar kann man auch eine Show im Planetarium besuchen.
Das Griffith Observatory ist absolut zu empfehlen, nicht nur für Astronomie-Liebhaber sondern auch für alle, die LA aus einer anderen Perspektive kennenlernen möchten.

Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a perfect place to escape Los Angeles for a day and to relax. With its unique flair, extraordinary stores, stylish cafes and the beach with the pier it entices many people specially at the weekend out of the city. It feels like holiday.
The pier is the most famous part in Santa Monica. It offers a little amusement park with a rollercoaster for kids, candy bars, food stands and the famous Ferris wheel. Street musicians make the relaxed atmosphere complete. Even the Route 66 ends on the pier and entices many tourists. A perfect daytrip!
Der perfekte Ort für einen entspannten Tag abseits des Trubels. Und an einem schönen warmen Tag (den es hier fast immer gibt) fühlt es sich wie Urlaub am Meer an.
Santa Monica ist eine kleine Stadt außerhalb von Los Angeles, die mit ihrem hippen Flair, den trendigen Läden, den stylischen Cafés und dem Strand mit einem belebten Pier viele Besucher, vor allem am Wochenende, aus LA herauslockt.
Der Pier ist das Highlight der kleinen Stadt und bietet unter anderem einen kleinen Jahrmarkt, der mit Achterbahn für Kinder bis zur Zuckerwatte alles bietet. Musiker geben sich zum Besten und der ganze Pier ist in Entspannungsstimmung. Auch die Route 66 endet hier und lockt somit einige Touristen. Ein perfekter Ausflug um zu entspannen!
Venice beach
Even more well-known than Santa Monica is the nearby located Venice Beach. An unspectacular beach itself, but it´s the surrounding that makes it so unique. Beside the beach you will find many unique shops, cafes and restaurants; a skatepark and the famous Muscel beach. Furthermore, the Venice beach signs are so popular and the background of probably hundreds of pictures.
Noch bekannter als Santa Monica ist wohl der nahegelegene Venice Beach. An sich ein sehr alltäglicher langer Strand, der allerdings zusätzlich einen Skaterpark, den Muscel-beach und das bekannte Venice Schild bietet. Natürlich findet man auch hier viele Läden, Restaurants und nette Cafés.
Walk of Fame
Everybody who have heard anything about Los Angeles, have at least once heard about the famous Walk of Fame. Celebrities with a special role in the American Show Business get a star on the Walk of Fame. At the moment you can find more than 2650 stars. Before I visit Los Angeles, I had a perfect picture of the Walk of Fame in my head. My expectations sadly didn´t fulfill. Instead of a clean, modern street I found an absolutely normal street, expect the stars on the sidewalk. Instead of expenses stores, I found One-Dollar shops. Instead of a glamorous sidewalk, I found a dirty one. The only glamorous part was the Dolby Theatre. So don´t visit it with too high expectations, because sadly they won´t get fulfilled. However, a least you should visit it once and tick if off your bucket list.
Wer Los Angeles besucht, hat neben den Hollywood Signs zu hundert Prozent etwas über den Walk of Fame gehört. In meinen Vorstellungen wusste ich genau wie diese Straße aussehen soll. Eine neumodische Straße, rechts und links tolle Läden, polierte Sterne und alles war pompös und strahle nur so von Prominenz. Zumindest dachte ich das. Meine Vorstellungen platzen in Luft auf und ich war wirklich enttäuscht, dass DIES der Walk of Fame sein sollte, von dem alle nur zu redeten. Statt einer neumodischen Straße, unterschied sich diese Straße kein bisschen (bis auf die Sterne am Boden) von ihren Nachbarstraßen. Statt schicken Läden, konnte man zu Beginn der Straße nur in One-Dollar Geschäften einkaufen. Statt polierten Sternen erwartet uns ein üblich dreckiger Gehweg. Und von Prominenz strahlte leider nur der Mittelpunkt der Straße, das Dolby Theatre, in dem immer wieder Filmpremieren stattfinden. Einmal gesehen haben sollte man es trotzdem.
